The Whole is More Than the Sum of its Parts
We are all language experts and most of us mastered our first language by the age of three. Just as the Palm Tree is already residing inside its seed, according to Norm Chomsky, the most cited intellectual alive and noted linguist, we are born with the innate ability for language. Our job as teachers, not to teach per se, but is to help you recognise and develop that ability for language that already resides in you. Think of a newborn, she already has the inate ability to walk, and all their parents do is provide a helping hand in the process. The child does not have to study Unlike most academic undertakings, language acquisition must not be studied using memory, but must be developed through repeatition much like learning to play a new sport.
